The Problem

Healthcare cost
  • Medication non-adherence is responsible for more than $200B of cost for the US healthcare system. Avoidable hospitalization is the largest remediable factor
What has not worked
  • Multiple pill bottles are difficult to manage. Filling passive pill organizers is time consuming and often leads to errors.*

  • Smart pill boxes or home refillable machines are bulky, expensive and awkward to adjust to changing prescriptions.

  • Rolls of pouched medication are a step forward in organization but do not guarantee timely, accurate dosing, especially for patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment.

Complex and expensive solutions
Other solutions have been based on pouched medication. Many of these products use cartridges that must be loaded at the pharmacy, employ motors and cutters, and require new learning for the patient to interact with touchscreens. The high cost of these devices has deterred their adoption.
